Artemis Fowl - Eoin Colfer Simple and interesting. I liked that the intricacies of this fantasy world wasn't explained so heavily that it bogged the story down. There were some elements that seemed foolish, like nonsensical magical rules for the sake of having rules, but I guess the story was good enough to compensate.

I think reading it 12 years after publication made the experience less enjoyable, as some of the book came across dated and juvenile. And while the story wasn't amazing or very unique, it was a nice short book. I didn't leave feeling very hooked at all, as in if I didn't read the next book, I wouldn't feel like I was missing out on something.
